About Me

I have been based in Surrey since 2012 and have easy access to Surrey History Centre and the National Archives at Kew. I am also able to travel to archives in surrounding counties and London.

Originally from Yorkshire I have always had an interest in ancestry, genealogy and family history. In particular I have researched the ancestors of my maternal grandfather who was a colourful character. As with many people it was not until his death in 2003 that I started looking into my family tree.

In 2014 my husband and I started a family of our own and we now have two young children. I am keen that they should know their ancestors, genealogy and family history. I think it is important they know their intergenerational past.

My background is as a solicitor in family law, a career in which I developed many of the skills needed in genealogy and family research such as interviewing people, extracting relevant information, writing reports and statements and interpreting legal documents. I am organised and methodical in my work. I continue to research my own family and my Blog of extracts from my own family history hopefully provides a taster of my work.

I also have a background in sailing and scuba diving and continue to have a keen interest in all things maritime.

I am an AGRA Associate and student member of the Register of Qualified Genealogists.

When not working for clients I continue my studies in genealogy to continually further my knowledge, having successfully completed the IHGS Higher Certificate in Genealogy

I continue to research my own ancestry, genealogy and family history breaking down my own brick walls using original record research and learning and using DNA research. I also look after my two gorgeous children.
